## CynogenMod 12.1 (Unofficial) By Armani Devs ##

Many folks having confusion about flashing CM ROMs ,i ain't talking about Experts but the beginners like me seriously :) :) :D
Ok no formalities ,straight to the Topic →
SITUATION 1ST → (1) If you are on Miui v5 ROM ...with Non-Root device ...first Root your device → ( Root/Unroot )
≈(2) After Rooting.... Flash any Recovery (Download recoveries from here) by inbuilt Updater App :) Better use TWRP recovery 2.8.5 or later... And any version of Philz Recovery!
≈(3) After successful installation of Recovery... Download latest CM12.1 ROM and GAPPS (XDA Link or Miui Forum Link ) , u can use these gapps too >>Minimal Google Apps Zip (Link) , Kernel like beast or xcelerate etc. (Link for Beast Kernel & Link for Xcelerate Kernels & Link for Carbon kernel → http://d-h.st/XEnp [R4 beta], Viper (Link) Walkman (Link) (Direct Link) , Camera Next (link) [it's shutter speed is awesome] , Camera JB+ (This cam is also good and yea it wont replace stock cam...file is in rar format..extract it and install apk) (Link) JetAudio+ (really a nice music player..simple apk there..u may install) (link) . THESE CAMERA,MUSIC etc. applications are optional ..not compulsory but you must give a try :D
OR MIUI FORUM LINK ALL LINKS IN ONE POST WITH OTHER KERNELS AND ROMS >> (LINK) OR OR CHECK PIN POST OF FB GROUPS >> FIRST ... SECOND ..THIRD !!
≈ (4) After downloading ,put all files in root directory of Internal Storage or External Card !
≈(5) Use Titanium Backup for backing up of your APPS and for games data just cut and paste there DATA OR OBB files outside of their native folder ;-)
≈(6) For taking whole backup of ROM use Either Nandroid Backup app available on play store or take backup by RECOVERY which you had installed :) You must take backup ...!
≈ (7) Ok after taking backup.. If using Philz recovery touch the option CLEAN TO INSTALL NEW ROM ....your whole data will be wiped (excepting internal storage and external storage) OR If r using TWRP recovery .....do this -- Wipe→ Advance Wipe→Tick first four things like data,cache,dalvik cache, system → Swipe to clean :)
≈ (8) Now Go to INSTALL and flash the ROM which you have put in internal storage ..it may say Patching System Unconditionally ..but that's not an error... ok ..wait for some time!!.after successful flashing ....Wipe cache and dalvik cache and again go to INSTALL and Flash GAPPS ...... and then Again wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot phone...
≈ (9) Wait for some time...it usually take some time in first boot..have patience and now Your ROM has been installed :)
≈ (10) After successful boot i mean now home screen is in front of you.... Do some things...
>>>> Go in Settings..and then in ABOUT option...tap 4-5 times on BUILD NUMBER ..you will have Developer Settings and in this, scroll down and Switch OFF the all three animations i.e. WINDOW,TRANSITION,ANIMATOR.This will help you to surf phone faster!!

>>>> Secondly,there will be option of ROOT ACCESS, open it and do APP ONLY OR APP & ADB ...this will provide Root permissions to apps !! (check pic 2)

Now Again boot phone into Recovery Mode... And flash the WALKMAN zips (there is 4-5 zips i guess) which u have downloaded.... and again wipe both caches and Reboot!!
≈ (11) After Successful installation of Walkman... Again boot in recovery and flash the Kernel you have downloaded (Same like Step 8) but Listen, before flashing kernel take backup of Kernel either by FLASHIFY app or by recovery... now how to take backup of kernel by recovery? Ok go to recovery take backup of BOOT only don't tick data,system etc. Backup of boot is backup of kernel only :) you can restore it if you don't like the kernels you flashed over Stock kernel !
≈ (12) So now you're ready to use CynogenMod ROM :) and yea Shutter speed of stock camera is slow so there is a cool camera app ...u can use it by simple installation :)... Yea it won't replace stock camera ..remember that ;) (Link)
≈ (13) In addition if you want Tinted taskbar ,flat style keyboard, flat style color bars etc. .... You must have Xposed App so there is official Xposed app for Lollipop is available Link [A] (download sdk22 arm not sdk22 arm64) and download this apk (LINK B) :) INSTALLATION GUIDE >> [Download these two files ZIP and APK .... now boot into recovery and Flash ZIP u have downloaded from link(A) and Reboot ...now after homescreen comes...install APK which u have downloaded from Link(B) :) DONE!! REMEMBER THAT AFTER INSTALLING SOME MODULES YOU MAY GET BOOTLOOP,SO DON'T THINK THAT IT'S PROBLEM IN XPOSED APP.. BUT IT IS PROBLEM OF THE MODULES U HAVE INSTALLED WHICH IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH THIS VERSION OF XPOSED. GRAVITY BOX (download from official site) Greenify (download from play store...btw i have a donation apk :: link::) ,Lucky patcher are working nicely (check pic 5 & 6). if you are getting the xposed like in pics..you are on right path :D

≈ (14) See guys... there are OTA (on the air) updates in CM12.1 ROM.... u can update rom simply if you get any updates if using TWRP recovery but here is a problem if you are using 'Philz Recovery' you won't able to update ...you have to install TWRP recovery for updating ROM..... You can simply install twrp recovery by flashing TWRP zip in philz recovery :) BUT I WOULD RECOMMEND TO NOT UPDATE SIMPLY....BETTER DOWNLOAD ROM BY UPDATER APP OR XDA/MIUI LINKS ..THEN BOOT INTO RECOVERY AND INSTALL ROM OVER YOUR CURRENT ROM WITH WIPING CACHES..YOU WON'T GET ANY PROBLEM! ≈ (15) If you are unable to change frequencies...frequencies are stuck ... i mean unable to under clock/overclock phone....you may facing Thermal throttling ..you have to remove Thermal throttling ..for this download Root browser/root explorer.... Go in SYSTEM→ETC→a file named "thermal-engine-8226.conf" would be there → open it by RB Editor → and delete all things below → anglo {as shown in pic} → then save →reboot→ now you can use kernel auditor (for beast kernel) or synapse app for Xcelerate kernel for over or underclocking cpu! (check pic 8 & 9)

SITUATION 2nd → (a) If you are on Miui v6 (unofficial) or On any other custom rom like Pacman,Dots,Laceup,Mokke... Then you better know how to flash, install etc etc.
(b) Follow Steps from 3rd point of SITUATION 1st.... Same steps there! ∆
SITUATION 3rd → (|) If u r already on any CM12.1 version .... And got an update ....You can dirty flash OR .... (read point {14} ) ♣
(||) Users posting that Phone behaving weird after Update....for them i would ask them to Flash Fresh ROM with PHILZ recovery :) ♠
(|||) After Update ...your Kernel will again set to default .... For this i have given you link for Kernels above ..... With every new update ...kernels also getting updated by respected developers :) ★
OTHER SITUATIONS and THINGS →→
>>>> Anyone flashed Beast/X/Carbon/SOKP or any other kernel on stock kernel and wanna revert back to stock.. read 11th step !!
>>>> Suppose if anyone Flashed beast kernel on stock kernel and now he wanna install Xcelerate kernel.... better restore Stock kernel first by step 11 and then install Xcelerate kernel! hope u get me? :D
>>>> Anyone is new to 12.1 armami ....and trying to install rom.... He will face "patching system image unconditionally" (already told above) don't worry it's not error ! wait for some time....ROM are getting installed!

>>>> If your stock kernel isn't satisfying you, you can flash Kernels.. there are many kernels for Cm12.1 rom and roms based on cm12,1 like Beast,Xcelerate,Carbon,Monster,SOKP,Cody (links) etc etc.. you can flash any of them and every Kernel have its unique feature as Carbon and Monster do GPU frquency upto 650 mhz :P and have 15-16 governors ! but Beast and Xcelerate update regularly..especially Xcelerate kernel is released specially for Cm12.1 rom which is great! Both Beast and Xcelerate is performing nice!
>>>> After installing gravity box ..you can do tweaking,customization in this rom as this is stock and not have much inbuilt features ! Greenify will help to reduce battery consumption! You can move your apps to SD card... there is inbuilt feature !! IF u wanna move your OBB/DATA of games and apps you can use LINK2SD or FOLDER MOUNT ;)
>>>> Average Screen On Time on this rom is 6 hours approx. !! You can flash various kernels to have Double tap to wake feature like beast,carbon,monster kernel provide this feature! There are many other things.. try the rom and check yourself!

Answer is >> Open dialer, dial *#*#4636#*#* , open first option "Phone Information", there you can set your preferred network mode !!
Ok that's all about CM12.1 ....ROM is updating regularly by its devs right now R7 version is latest ....and they are such fast that even R8 may be released right after i publish this post!! Stay in touch with XDA link of CM12.1 and The Kernels ...(you must visit XDA forum once ).. usually updates are for better but always keep backup of your ROM and Kernel.. in case you don't like Updates you can restore your previous kernel or rom easily! <3 I also try to review ROMs ...u can check this blog ! :P
